Circles Opelika

A program of the PRF Teaching Ministry

Circles Opelika seeks to inspire and equip our community to reduce poverty and remove the barriers that stand in the way of financial security. Poverty is more than a lack of material wealth; sometimes it means relying on family, friends, and government assistance, which can be dehumanizing. When people achieve financial security, they experience a surge of pride and confidence. Often, they say they have regained their dignity, their value, and their humanity.

At Circles Opelika, we believe everyone can work together to reduce and eradicate poverty. The Circles model focuses both on what individuals can do to change their situations and on what society can do to remove the barriers that stand in their way.

Circles Opelika is a program of the PRF Teaching Ministry, a financial empowerment and stewardship organization that serves 26 states around the country. In 2018, Circles Opelika started under a task force of the Envision Opelika Foundation, which was comprised of local educators, social service agencies, and community members.

Dr. Nathaniel Dunlap, Jr. serves as the Executive Director at the PRF Institute, lead organization for Circles Opelika. Since 2019, Dr. Dunlap has served as a a Circle Ally, on the Circles Advisory Group, and now as the Interim Director for Circles Opelika since September 2023.

Regina B. Meadows served as the Inaugural Director of Circles Opelika from 2018 - 2023. She is a two-time graduate of Troy University and a resident of Opelika. Mrs. Meadows is active in her church, her sorority, and believes strongly in serving her community. We are grateful for how Mrs. Meadows led Circles Opelika over the years, the many lives she has helped through poverty experiences, AND that she will continue to serve as a Circle Ally.

Circles Opelika is currently in search for a new Director (called Coach in the Circles world), one or two Coordinators, Advisory Board members, and volunteers to serve in our Resource Group, so that we can begin a new Circle Leader-in-Training class in 2024. More to come …
